1st generation from BBC masters. Currently best version available Note: Some noise is present on all versions during SIAJ [Simon_Funnell] Faultless, the world's best bootleg just got better. None of the versions contain any of Phil's stories or banter, making this more like a classic live album than a normal bootleg. Currently the best there is, it may be surpassed by FADE006, which will contain all the song intros taken from the DVD, but this will remain the best way to hear the BBC's master tapes and experience what would have been heard on the radio back in 1980. [LivingForever] This is indeed an excellent recording and we are lucky to have it so easily available. However, even the best boots seem to have issues, and I noticed tape wow and flutter in the middle of the show. There's even a couple of changes in pitch -- momentary but audible. I'm being picky here, so I'd love to know if others hear the same thing. Otherwise it's still the best version I've heard of this show and I'd still recommend it. [VariousArtist] The show is pitch bent upwards slightly just as the source tape was. I would have corrected it, but for whatever reason it was left unadjusted. Other than that, clear bordering on sterile. Would give it an A+ were it not for the speed issue. Still recommended though. [speedy] Another great remaster from the BURP Project. This version is much better than the old Musica Bootleg which was pretty good too! But this remaster is much better!!! Thanks to Mark Bataitis for this nice remaster!!! [GedLynch] It would seem that with this version some of the old problems with 'Musica' have been ironed out, Unfortunatly more seem to have been unearthed!!, The general recording has a 'swishy' sound to it, particularly during 'Squonk' where it sounds as if the original tape has been damaged or warped/stretched!, also the recording suffers a strange rattle during the high frequencies ie- Daryls Guitar!, sorry if this sounds picky, but i hope these issues will be addressed if FAde006 ever see's the light of day!. [BobBarnett] I still prefer "Duke Side Live" and "Musica" to that one. Speeded up, high frequencies overboosted and that "swishy" and "fluttery" sound is absolutely annoying. The dynamic is superior to the other versions, but maybe the tapes got ruined by the years... such a loss :-( It's an "A+" that became "B+" just for the hypotetic value of the original tapes... I hope someone at the farm will officially release it with the video too. [Gigio67] Now I prefer "As Good As Gold"... yep! [Gigio67] |
