Technical Notes By Dan Lore It is a remastered version of the Rainbow Theater Show from 02-Jan-77 that is from the British Biscuit reels. Some technical notes: - The levels on 'Squonk' have been evened out to match the rest of the show. The 'squeals' are still there, but are a little less obvious. - This show was in some serious need of bottom end. This has been added. (For those of you with a subwoofer, this show will give it a bit of a workout.) - The DJ banter has been kept, but the commercials have been removed. (My motto: I don't watch commercials on TV, hence, I don't want them on my audio. I know this goes against the purists, but I can't bring myself to listen to 27 year old commercials more than once.) [Simon_Funnell] Although both versions of this show are excellent, this one is the better. The bass is phenominal! [LivingForever] Another great Dan's job. A special mention for the bass frequencies. G. [Gigio67] Going to say an A-. Like to reserve the A+ and A grades for the ones truly deserving of such. While the mix is a definite upgrade, the lack of bass response is still a consideration. Besides which, I'm going with an A- for other reasons: First of all, it is far from a complete set - the inclusion of "All In A Mouse's Night" is interesting from a collector's standpoint, but, considering that that piece is certainly one of the "lesser" works in their repertoire, the bonus is limited there. Very weak audience content, especially for a London crowd. Also, the band is really "feeling their way" through the new tunes at this stage. It is among the first gigs with Chester and the group just isn't at their fighting weight performance-wise. The soundboard from São Paulo and Zurich revisited are still the standards from this tour for me. Peace! [jrromman] |
