In 1970 a nineteen year old post-Flaming Youth, pre-Genesis Phil Collins found himself playing with George Harrison in sessions that would eventually lead to the latter's first solo album, All Things Must Pass. Phil played congas on the track, Art of Dying. For many years his contribution went uncredited but in 2001, when the album was reissued, George Harrison finally credited Collins in his liner notes: "A lot of people new to me came into the sessions, I know not how; the most famous being Phil Collins. During one such session, Phil was allegedly playing congas on 'The Art of Dying', and although it's taken me thirty years, I would like to thank him for his participation." These tracks were selected from the various All Things Must Pass session bootlegs that are circulating: "The Making Of All Things Must Pass"; "Art of Dying"; "Songs For Patti (Definitive Edition)" |
