Beautifull base lines, a bit hissy but a real gem. [Dr Boogerloo] Excellent band sounding, Peter vocals a bit "canned". Fantastic testimony anyway. [Acadash] The raw recording, featuring lots of cuts and quite a bit of hiss. Still an excellent document and in terms of sound a million times better than the recordings of the actual show. [mdekoning] Yeah, this is the "best version" of this event, but I think I agree with Mike Rutherford and others in the band when they say that they were pleased that the gig had not been "professionally" recorded. For sound quality, sure, an A. But, with many choices for today's Genesis live recording collector, I have to consider the quality of the performance when giving a rating. If nothing else, this gig stands as a testament to how difficult the music these guys play is to pull off. And, without more than just one run through, how hard it is to render, AND, how hard it might be to render again should the lads finally agree to reunite in their "Lamb" line-up, as has been considered. Perhaps Peter is right when he talks about the time factor involved in getting it together again. The 6-7 year interim between the last Lamb and this gig definitely left him behind the ball as it were - dropped lines. lyrics, melody lines, et. al. The recent "Turn It On Again" tour showed that the guys still have it and can get it back together quite well. But that was with material they had a handle on. Some of the Lamb stuff hasn't be played live in over 3 decades...... Peace! [jrromman] I'm very impressed with this BEAUTIFUL recording. It's a must have for anyone that is a Genesis trader. The base lines to me were a bit too deep but they sounded great. I find it funny when they make a little screw up. But, that is to be expected. [legalbeagle] |
