artwork archive |
Due to its size, this site costs a fair bit to host. If you use this site regularly, please consider donating just a couple of dollars (or whatever you feel comfortable with) to help keep it alive.
I receive many questions regarding the artwork archive, hopefully this FAQ will go some way to answering some of the questions.
1.
What are these pictures for?

5. How do I print the the pictures?
6. Who has contributed to the archive?
7. How do I contribute?

9. The artwork is mainly Genesis related, what about other
bands?
10. Do you own all of these bootlegs? Will you sell them to
me?
11. I can't add any artwork, but can I say thanks?
1.
What are these pictures for?
Many people trade bootlegs, but mostly these are unlabeled cdrs. The artwork
archive enables traders to download and print their own copies of artwork
from silver cd bootlegs or cdr bootlegs.
2.
Where do I get artwork for official albums?
When you buy an album, you get nice printed artwork with it :-) I urge you
not to copy official material and I will not provide artwork for such albums
3.
How do I download the artwork?
Right mouse click on either the "G" icon or the "zip"
icon and select "Save Target As..." from the context menu. Save
the file(s) to your hard disc, unzip if necessary and print.
4.
What is a .zip file?
A zip file is a file created using WinZip. WinZip is typically used to compress
large documents to enable them to be shared more easily. In the case of the
archive, it is mainly used to keep all the files for a particular recording
in one download. An evaluation version of WinZip can be downloaded from here.
5.
How do I print the pictures?
Two easy ways;
Download and install a copy of Cover
XP - This great program formats the artwork for easy printing.
or
Once you have downloaded and extracted the pictures, they can be printed by
loading them into any art package that reads JPG files, or most modern versions
of Word or Powerpoint. It may be necessary to resize some of the pictures
before printing. This should be done as follows;
Back Cover = 15.1cm x 11.75cm
Front Cover = 12.1cm x 12.1cm
CD Labels = 11.6 x 11.6cm
There are also applications specifically designed for printing jewel case
inserts and cd labels. For example SureThing
CD Labeller.
6.
Who has contributed to the archive?
Over the past couple of years, the archive has been built up with the support
of fans. The following fans have been a great help;
Me :-) Halley Ros, The
Italian collector, Michel Denoncourt, YesJon!, Carl Polland, Maxime, Jean-François
Delafosse, Stuart Willows, Graciela Martinez Alzaga, Mike Kameka, Michael
Carzo, Cristobal Sabroe Yde, Colin Dodd, Ian Tarrant, Ted Sayers, Filip Tack,
Hugo, Allesandro Mattioli, Willem Beens, Christian Roth, Manuela Thiel, Adrian
Bernal, John Pollington, Roland Meinhard, Richard Hébert, Steve Genzano...
and others whose names I have lost.
My thanks to all of them.
7.
How do I contribute?
Email - send me the
jpegs directly by email to simon@genesis-movement.org. I'll then get them uploaded as soon as I get a chance.
Any scans should be sent as full size scans (12cm x 12cm for front scans and 15.1cm x 11.75cm for back scans). Please send JPG's and NOT bitmaps.
8.
I've found a dead link, what should I do?
Email me at simon@genesis-movement.org
and I'll get it fixed.
9.
The artwork is mainly Genesis related, what about other bands?
I only collect Genesis bootlegs so the artwork archive is primarily based
on that. However, the odd other artist does slip in every now and then.
10.
Do you own all of these bootlegs? Will you sell them to me?
No I don't own
all of these recordings, some of them, but not all. For a full list of my
own collection, click on the Live Recordings section of my website. Sell?
Certainly not.
11.
I can't add any artwork, but can I say thanks?
